Netflix is taking another big step into live-broadcasting as they are set to exclusively livestream this year’s SAG Awards on it’s YouTube channel on February 26th with plans to air the awards show live on their streaming platform in 2024, according to CNBC.
It marks the first partnership between the SAG Awards and Netflix, and one that Netflix hopes will help evolve their live-streaming content plans for the future.
“As we begin to explore live streaming on Netflix, we look forward to partnering with SAG-AFTRA to elevate and expand this special ceremony as a global live event in 2024 and the years to come,” said Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s head of global television in an official statement.
The SAG Awards has aired on both TNT and TBS since 2007 with TNT airing the event since 2008, but Warner Bros. Discovery parted ways with the SAG Awards in May as the newly merged company restructured.
